Here are the questions that will help us moving forward: What deliverables are needed? (We have some ideas and recommendations that we'll be happy to discuss as well)
The project we discussed with Michelle is an extension of the ongoing excellent work that CU has been doing in The Next Stage Gallery. The Gallery currently houses various CU exhibits and in particular a fascinating VR project that goes behind the scenes and on the stage of rehearsals for Opera Colorado’s La Boheme. The exhibit also features Augmented Reality images that have artists “come to life.” Next up in the queue is the Colorado Ballet. If you haven’t seen it, check it out.
For this project, what we discussed was a project that takes the AR component and expands it into the Galleria. The idea is that patrons and visitors of the Arts Complex would interact with various images located throughout the Arts Complex that would “come to life” in a way that would highlight the activities of the various venues at the Arts Complex. The concept is that a patron would download an app or go to a web-enabled site to use their phone in such a way that, when pointed to an image on the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, for example, they would get a glimpse of a performance of the Colorado Ballet within. As the patron moves around the Arts Complex, they would point their phone to various images near other venues to see the activities within in AR. Finally, when the patron points to the garage, there is information and imagery of our ongoing efforts to renew the Arts Complex, a project called The Next Stage. More on that when we meet.
Who is your primary demographic?
Patrons arriving for performances, visitors, guests, etc.
Who is your competition? (Are there other organizations that provide that same services through similar channels as yours? Is there another organization that you look to as the "expert” or “leader” in your field?
As far as I know, this would be a unique project.
What is the tone and image you want to convey? (Educational? Artistic? Funny? Etc... What type of first impression do you want to make on your target audience that will best communicate the Arts and Venues Denver brand and mission?)
This project is intended to promote and support the Resident Companies of the Arts Complex (Colorado Ballet, Opera Colorado, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Colorado Symphony). In doing so, we have an opportunity to advance the Denver Arts & Venues brand by branding this effort as a collaboration between the resident companies, DAV, and CU. The tone is both educational, artistic and classy.
What are the most important messages you want to advertise? (Prioritize the most integral facts and/or features of Arts and Venues Denver and how those relate to your target audience.)
See above.
What is the one sentence that summarizes Arts and Venues Denver's unique value?
Literally, the mission of Denver Arts & Venues is: To amplify Denver’s quality of life and economic vitality through premier public venues, arts, and entertainment opportunities.
By creating this project, we hope to accomplish two goals: create a unique wayfinding element to the Arts Complex by showcasing what’s “in” the venues, rather than just where the venues are located. The second objective is to provide an interesting engagement opportunity for visitors to the Arts Complex.
